Spicy Salami French Bread Pizza

Ingredients

1 (13- to 15-ounce) loaf soft French bread

1/2 cup Land O Lakes® Garlic & Herb Butter Spread, melted

3 ounces spicy salami such as calabrese or hot soppresatta, diced 1/2 inch

1 (8-ounce) package Land O Lakes® Habanero Jack Cheese Chunk, shredded

1 (8-ounce) package Land O Lakes® Sharp White Cheddar Cheese Chunk, shredded

1 cup marinara sauce

1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Hot honey, to taste

Crushed red pepper flakes, to taste

How to make

  1. STEP 1

    Heat oven to 425°F.

  2. STEP 2

    Cut loaf in half lengthwise; cut each half in half again to make 4 pieces total. Place bread, cut-sides up, onto foil-lined large rimmed baking sheet. Brush melted Garlic & Herb Butter Spread evenly over bread.

  3. STEP 3

    Bake 5-7 minutes or until edges are golden.

  4. STEP 4

    Meanwhile, place diced salami onto microwave-safe plate; cover with paper towel. Microwave 30 seconds; blot excess oil. Continue microwaving in 30-second intervals, blotting between each, 90 seconds or until salami shrinks slightly and begins to crisp.

  5. STEP 5

    Combine cheeses in medium bowl. Spread half of cheeses evenly over toasted bread. Spread marinara sauce evenly to edges. Top evenly with salami, remaining cheese and Italian seasoning.

  6. STEP 6

    Bake 9-11 minutes or until cheese is melted and beginning to brown in spots. Top with hot honey and red pepper flakes, as desired. Cool 2 minutes before serving.

Tip #1

Cutting the salami into small pieces and cooking them just a bit creates crispy bites that are easier to cut and serve.

Substitute spicy pepperoni for the salami.

Tip #3

Use a soft, wider French bread loaf rather than a thin baguette-type French bread for this recipe.
