Cocoa Macadamia Nut Sandies

Heavenly chocolate and rich macadamia nuts add a new dimension to these old-fashioned cookies.

1 cup Land O Lakes® Butter, softened

1/2 cup sugar

1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa

1 tablespoon water

2 teaspoons vanilla

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 (3.25-ounce) jar (2/3 cup) macadamia nuts, finely chopped

3/4 cup powdered sugar

How to make

  1. STEP 1

    Heat oven to 325°F.

  2. STEP 2

    Combine butter and sugar in large bowl. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until well mixed. Add cocoa, water and vanilla; continue beating until well mixed. Add flour; beat at low speed until well mixed. Stir in macadamia nuts.

  3. STEP 3

    Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Place 1 inch apart onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 18-20 minutes or until set. Remove from cookie sheets. Cool completely. Roll in powdered sugar..

Tip #1

Want a little variety? Substitute finely chopped blanched hazelnuts or walnuts for the macadamia nuts. Still need more options? Add 1/4 teaspoon almond extract or coconut flavoring along with the vanilla.

You do not taste the chocolate in this recipe. The cookie is still good, but I would not make them again. I want a chocolate cookie to taste like chocolate.
