Ingredients

Shortbread

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

3/4 cup powdered sugar

1/2 cup cake flour  

1 cup Land O Lakes® Butter, softened

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Topping

1 tablespoon sugar

1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon

 

 *Substitute 1/2 cup all-purpose flour.

How to make

  1. STEP 1

    Heat oven to 350°F.

  2. STEP 2

    Combine all shortbread ingredients in bowl. Beat at low speed, 4-6 minutes, just until soft dough forms. (Do not over mix)

  3. STEP 3

    Press dough evenly onto bottom of lightly greased 13x9-inch baking pan.

  4. STEP 4

    Stir together all topping ingredients in small bowl; sprinkle over shortbread. Prick dough all over with fork.

  5. STEP 5

    Bake 20-30 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool slightly on wire rack; cut into bars while still warm.

What am I doing wrong? i have tried this twice and I can't get any kind of dough to form? It is all the dry stuff with bits of butter? Help?

Hi Marybeth, when a dough doesn't come together and stays crumbly, it could mean that you have measured slightly too much flour. Next time, try lightly scooping flour into the measuring cup and leveling with a knife. Hope this helps - happy baking!
