Ingredients
12 cup milk
6 tablespoons Land O Lakes® Butter, divided
Warm water (105°F to 115°F)
12 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 (1/4-ounce) packages active dry yeast
5 to 5 12 cups bread flour
How to make
-
STEP 1 Place milk and 4 tablespoons butter into 2-cup glass measuring cup. Microwave 1 1/2 minutes. Add enough warm water to measure 2 cups.
-
STEP 2 Combine sugar, egg and salt in large bowl; mix well. Add milk mixture; mix well. Stir in yeast; let stand 2 minutes.
-
STEP 3 Add 3 cups flour. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until smooth and elastic. Add 2 cups flour. Mix dough with hook or stir in with wooden spoon until smooth. Stir in enough remaining flour with wooden spoon to make dough easy to handle.
-
STEP 4 Place dough into greased bowl. Melt remaining 2 tablespoons butter; brush top of dough. Reserve remaining melted butter. Cover; let rise 45 minutes or until double in size. (Dough is ready if indentation remains when touched.)
-
STEP 5 Punch down dough; divide in half. Shape each half on lightly floured surface into 12 buns. Place buns onto 2 greased (15x10x1-inch) baking pans. Brush with reserved melted butter. Cover; let rise 1 hour or until double in size.
-
STEP 6 Heat oven to 375°F.
-
STEP 7 Bake 14-16 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from pan immediately. Brush buns with reserved melted butter, if desired.
