Learn How it Works...
Cookie
3/4 cup Land O Lakes® Butter, softened
3 cups sugar
1 large Land O Lakes® Egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups all-purpose flour
Royal Icing
1 1/4 cups sifted powdered sugar
1 tablespoon meringue powder
2 tablespoons warm (105°F to 115°F) water
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
Food color, as desired
Assorted sprinkles, if desired
Jelly beans or candies, if desired
STEP 1
Heat oven to 350°F. Line 15x10x1-inch baking pan with parchment paper; set aside.
STEP 2
Combine 3/4 cup butter, sugar, egg, 1 teaspoon vanilla and 1/2 teaspoon salt in bowl. Beat at medium speed until creamy. Add flour 1 cup at a time, beating at low speed and scraping bowl often, until mixture forms dough.
STEP 3
Press dough evenly into 12x9-inch egg-shape on prepared pan. Bake 17-19 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Remove from oven; immediately cut cookie into shapes, slightly separate cookie pieces along cut edges. Cool completely.
STEP 4
Combine all icing ingredients in bowl. Beat at low speed until moistened. Beat at medium speed 2-4 minutes or until thickened and glossy. (If too thick, add additional tablespoon warm water.) Cover bowl with damp paper towel until ready to use or cover with plastic food wrap.
STEP 5
Divide icing into bowls; tint each with desired color. Frost and decorate cookie puzzle, as desired.
If cookie dough is sticky, lightly flour fingers to press dough into egg shape. When cutting design, try not to make any part of cookie narrower than 1/2-inch in width to avoid breaking.
