Apple Cobbler
One of our classic recipes, refreshed! A little less sugar in both the filling and the topping highlights the tart apples. We prefer it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients
Filling
12 cup firmly packed brown sugar
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
14 teaspoon ground cardamom
18 teaspoon salt
5 (about 2 13 pounds) apples, peeled, cored, sliced 1/4 inch thick
2 tablespoons lemon juice
Topping
34 cup all-purpose flour
14 cup granulated sugar, divided
34 teaspoon baking powder
14 teaspoon salt
14 cup Land O Lakes® Butter, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
12 cup buttermilk
How to make

STEP 1
Heat oven to 350°F. Grease 8-inch square baking dish (2-quart) with butter.

Combine brown sugar, 3 tablespoons flour, cinnamon, cardamom and 1/8 teaspoon salt in large bowl; mix well. Add apples and lemon juice; toss until evenly coated. Spread apples evenly into prepared baking dish.

Whisk together 3/4 cup flour, 3 tablespoons granulated sugar, baking powder and 1/4 teaspoon salt in large bowl. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add buttermilk; stir until just combined. Drop by large spoonfuls over apples. Sprinkle topping evenly with remaining 1 tablespoon granulated sugar.

Bake 60-65 minutes or until topping is deep golden brown and filling is bubbling.

Serve warm or at room temperature with vanilla ice cream, if desired.
