1 hr 10 min

1 cup sugar

1 cup Land O Lakes® Butter, softened

1/3 cup maple-flavored pancake syrup

1 large Land O Lakes® Egg

3 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons semi-sweet chocolate chips

How to make

  1. STEP 1

    Heat oven to 350°F.

  2. STEP 2

Combine sugar and butter in bowl. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until creamy. Add syrup and egg; continue beating until well mixed. Add flour and salt; beat at low speed until well mixed.

  3. STEP 3

Shape dough into 1-inch balls using floured hands. Roll each ball into 10-inch rope. Shape into pinwheel shape leaving one end uncurled to resemble head of snail. Place snails 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10-13 minutes or until lightly browned.

  4. STEP 4

Place chocolate chips into bowl; microwave, stirring every 30 seconds, 60-90 seconds or until melted and smooth. Use point of toothpick dipped in melted chocolate to make eye on each snail.

Tip #1

If dough is too soft, refrigerate 30 minutes.

They were good, but I think they could have had more maple flavor.

This cookie is fantastic for those people who like the taste of maple and a hint of sweetness in their mouth. The cookie's texture was soft and warm when eatten freash. But if they're left in the oven too long they tend to harden extra on the bottom, possibly because of the maple syrup.
