Ingredients

Cookie

1 1/4 cups
all-purpose flour
1/2 cup
powdered sugar
1 teaspoon
freshly grated lemon zest
1/4 teaspoon
ground nutmeg
2/3 cup
cold Land O Lakes® Butter, cut into chunks
1
large Land O Lakes® Egg (yolk only)

Topping

2 tablespoons
sugar
1/4 teaspoon
ground nutmeg

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 350°F.
  2. Combine flour, powdered sugar, lemon zest and 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg in bowl; cut in butter with pastry blender or fork until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in egg yolk until dough forms a ball.
  3. Combine sugar and 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg in bowl. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Roll balls in sugar mixture. Place onto ungreased cookie sheets. Flatten ball with cookie stamp or bottom of glass to 1/4-inch thickness. Bake 10-12 minutes or until edges are lightly browned.

Made these with an 'eat me' stamp for daughter's fifth birthday party -- Alice in wonderland theme. had to chill dough before pressing and chilled after 10 minutes, baked on air bake cookie sheet, right out of the oven dusted with edible glitter, they came out beautiful. Thank you for the recipe, making more for school bake sale now!
