Ingredients

Cookie

1/2 cup Land O Lakes® Butter, softened

1/3 cup sugar

1/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar

1 large Land O Lakes® Egg

1 tablespoon freshly grated orange zest

1 tablespoon orange juice

4 drops yellow food color

2 drops red food color

1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

3 tablespoons mini semi-sweet chocolate chips

Decorations

1/2 cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips or white baking chips

1/2 teaspoon vegetable oil

How to make

  1. STEP 1

Combine butter, sugar and brown sugar in bowl; beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until creamy. Add egg, orange zest, orange juice and food colors; continue beating until well mixed. Add flour and baking powder; beat at low speed until well mixed.

  2. STEP 2

Divide dough in half; shape each half on lightly floured surface into 8-inch log. Wrap each in waxed paper. Refrigerate 2-3 hours or until very firm.

  3. STEP 3

    Heat oven to 400°F.

  4. STEP 4

Cut logs into 1/4-inch slices with sharp knife. Place 1 inch apart onto ungreased cookie sheets. Place 4 mini chocolate chips upside-down onto each cookie to resemble holes in buttons. Bake 6-7 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Remove to cooling rack. Cool completely.

  5. STEP 5

Place 1/4 cup chocolate chips and oil in bowl. Microwave, stirring every 30 seconds, 60-90 seconds or until melted.

  6. STEP 6

Spoon melted chocolate into resealable plastic food bag; cut off 1 very small corner of bag. Pipe chocolate onto cookies in X-shape to connect button holes.
