Triple Chocolate Temptations

3/4 cup Land O Lakes® Butter

4 ounces unsweetened baking chocolate

2 cups sugar

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa

4 large Land O Lakes® Eggs

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips


1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

2 teaspoons shortening

How to make

  1. STEP 1

    Melt butter and unsweetened baking chocolate in 2-quart saucepan over low heat, stirring occasionally, 6-10 minutes or until smooth. Cool 20 minutes.

  2. STEP 2

    Combine melted chocolate mixture, sugar, 1 cup flour, cocoa, eggs, baking powder and salt in bowl. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until well mixed. Stir in remaining flour and 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips. Cover; refrigerate at least 2 hours.

  3. STEP 3

    Heat oven to 350°F.

  4. STEP 4

    Shape level tablespoonfuls of dough into balls. Place 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 7-9 minutes or until edges are set and cookies begin to crack on top. Cool 2 minutes on cookie sheets; remove to cooling rack. Cool completely.

  5. STEP 5

    Microwave 1/2 cup chocolate chips and shortening in bowl 1 minute. Stir until chips are melted. Drizzle mixture over cooled cookies. Let stand at least 30 minutes or until chocolate is set.

Tip #1

- For a fresh-baked flavor after storage, place cookie on paper towel; microwave 5 seconds.

Tip #2

- Cookies can be sprinkled with sifted powdered sugar instead of chocolate drizzle.

Tasty and easy! But make sure you actually refrigerate the dough for two hours, or you'll have a mess.

Quick question, the cookie is fabulous but mine fell flat after they cooled. Any ideas on what I may have done to do this? I actually followed the recipe to the letter so I am not sure what I may have done. They still taste great but they are really flat. Any ideas are appreciated.

Here is a suggestion, Holly. This is a very fudgy dense cookie. I would mix in about 1 to 2 T. all-purpose flour to the cookie dough. Then I would bake a test cookie first to see if the texture is not so flat. The other possibility as to why the cookies are flat and fell in the middle. is that you would need to bake the cookie a little longer. They might also be underbaked.

THE best chocolate cookies. They are a huge success at family events, and friends love them. Using rubber gloves makes rolling the dough easier, and somewhat less messy. I don't make the drizzle, as they're ideal plain.

Rolling this cookie dough is sooo messy. But sooo worth the trouble! They are soft, chewy and intensely chocolate. The glaze makes them look pretty on a cookie tray, too.
