1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh garlic
1/3 cup Land O Lakes® Butter with Canola Oil
1 tablespoon za'tar (zahtar) spice mixture
8 slices sturdy sandwich bread
8 (3/4-ounce) slices Land O Lakes® Deli American
*Substitute 1 teaspoon thyme, 1 teaspoon sesame seeds, 1 teaspoon sumac, 1/4 teaspoon oregano and 1/4 teaspoon salt.
STEP 1
Heat electric griddle to 350°F.
STEP 2
Combine mayonnaise and garlic in small bowl; set aside.
STEP 3
Combine Butter with Canola Oil and spice mixture in small bowl until evenly distributed. Spread 1 side of each bread slice with about 1/2 tablespoon butter mixture.
STEP 4
Place 4 bread slices, buttered-side down, onto hot griddle. Spread 1 tablespoon garlic mayonaise mixture over bread slices. Top each with 2 slices cheese and remaining bread slices, buttered-side up.
STEP 5
Cook about 3-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cheese is melted.
Place assembled sandwich in air fryer basket. Cook at 360°F for about 5 minutes until cheese is melted. Flip the sandwich and continue cooking another 5-7 minutes or until bread is crisped and golden and cheese is melted. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may be able to cook more than one sandwich at a time.
You can find za'tar online or at specialty grocery and spice stores.
