Chai Shortbread

1/2 cup Land O Lakes® Butter, softened

1/4 cup sugar

2 tablespoons instant spice chai latte mix

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 cup all-purpose flour


1/2 cup powdered sugar

1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa

2 teaspoons instant spice chai latte mix

2 teaspoons Land O Lakes® Butter, softened

2 to 3 teaspoons Land O Lakes® Fat Free Half & Half

How to make

  1. STEP 1

    Heat oven to 350°F.

  2. STEP 2

    Combine 1/2 cup butter, sugar, 2 tablespoons chai mix and vanilla in large bowl. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until creamy. Add flour; beat at low speed until well mixed. (Mixture will be somewhat crumbly.)

  3. STEP 3

    Pat mixture evenly into ungreased 8-inch square baking pan. Bake 20-25 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool completely.

  4. STEP 4

    Combine all frosting ingredientsexcepthalf & half in small bowl. Add enough half & half for desired icing consistency. Spread over cooled shortbread. Cut into bars.

Tip #1

- Chai tea is a sweet, spicy tea popular in India. The combination of black tea, milk and ground spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, ginger and cardamom gives it a warm, fragrant taste. Look for the instant spice chai latte mix in the tea and coffee aisle of the supermarket.

Tip #2

- To make it easier to remove shortbread, line pan with aluminum foil, extending foil over edges. When shortbread has cooled, use foil to lift shortbread from pan.
