Grilled California Turkey Bistro Sandwich

1 ripe avocado, pitted, peeled

1/4 cup finely chopped red onion

2 tablespoons garlic-flavored mayonnaise or mayonnaise

8 (about 5x4 inch) slices (1/2-inch thick) Vienna or Tuscan bread

2 tablespoons Land O Lakes® Butter, softened

8 (3/4-ounce) slices Land O Lakes® Deli American

8 ounces thinly sliced deli peppered turkey

8 slices crisply cooked bacon

How to make

  1. STEP 1

    Mash avocado in small bowl with fork; stir in onion and garlic mayonnaise; set aside.

  2. STEP 2

    To assemble sandwiches, spread 1 side of each bread slice with 3/4 teaspoon softened butter. Evenly spread avocado mixture over 4 bread slices, buttered-side down. Top each with 1 slice cheese, 1/4 turkey, 2 slices bacon, 1 slice cheese and 1 slice bread, buttered-side up.

  3. STEP 3

    Heat 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat. Place 2 sandwiches into skillet. Cook, turning once, 4-6 minutes or until sandwiches are golden brown and cheese is melted. Keep warm; repeat with remaining sandwiches.

  4. STEP 4

    Cut each sandwich in half; serve immediately.

Tip #1

Tuscan bread is a rustic, artisan bread shaped similar to Vienna bread.
