
Patty Melts with Fried Onions

Ingredients
Fried Onions
2 tablespoons Land O Lakes® Butter
3 large (3 cups) onions, sliced
Burger
1 pound lean ground beef
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon seasoned salt
1
4 teaspoon paprika1
4 teaspoon pepperSandwich
2 tablespoons Land O Lakes® Butter
4 slices marble rye bread, cut in half
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
8 (3/4-ounce) slices Land O Lakes® White Deli American, cut in half
How to make

STEP 1
Heat 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat. Melt 2 tablespoons butter in skillet until sizzling; add sliced onions. Cook, stirring occasionally, 10-12 minutes or until onions are caramelized and golden brown. Remove to bowl; set aside.

Combine all burger ingredients in bowl; mix well. Shape into 4 very thin oblong patties. Place into same skillet; cook, turning once, 15-20 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 160°F or desired doneness. Remove burgers to plate; keep warm. Wipe skillet with paper towels before grilling sandwiches.

Butter 1 side of each bread piece; spread other side with Dijon mustard.

Place 4 pieces bread into skillet, buttered-side down; top each bread piece with 2 halves cheese. Place 1/4 onions and 1 burger patty onto 2 pieces bread. Cook over medium heat 2-3 minutes or until bread is toasted. Top burgers with remaining toasted bread pieces in skillet, buttered-side up. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
