Cake
3 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups sugar
1 cup Land O Lakes® Butter, softened
4 large Land O Lakes® Eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup milk
Frosting
1/2 cup Land O Lakes® Butter, softened
3 (1-ounce) squares unsweetened baking chocolate, melted, cooled
4 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup milk
Decorator sprinkles, if desired
STEP 1
Heat oven to 350°F. Grease 13x9-inch baking pan; set aside.
STEP 2
Combine flour, baking powder and salt in bowl. Set aside.
STEP 3
Place sugar and 1 cup butter in another bowl; beat at medium speed, scraping bowl occasionally, until creamy. Contiinue beating, adding 2 eggs at a time, until well mixed. Add 2 teaspoons vanilla. Add flour mixture alternately with 1 cup milk, beating at low speed after each addition.
STEP 4
Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake 45-55 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely.
STEP 5
Place 1/2 cup butter and cooled chocolate in bowl; beat at medium speed until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, alternately with 1/4 cup milk and 2 teaspoons vanilla and scraping bowl occasionally, until well mixed. Frost cooled cake. Sprinkle with decorator sprinkles, if desired.
- Add 1 to 2 tablespoons additional milk to frosting for desired spreading consistency.
