Ingredients

9 cups oven-toasted corn squares cereal

9 cups oven-toasted rice squares cereal

2 cups firmly packed brown sugar

1 cup Land O Lakes® Butter

1/2 cup light corn syrup

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

2 cups candy-coated milk chocolate pieces

How to make

  1. STEP 1

    Heat oven to 250°F. Spray roasting pan with no-stick cooking spray.

  2. STEP 2

    Place cereal into prepared pan.

  3. STEP 3

    Combine brown sugar, butter and syrup in 3-quart saucepan. Cook over medium-high heat 8-9 minutes or until mixture comes to a boil. Continue cooking, stirring constantly, 1 minute. Remove from heat. Add baking soda; mix well.

  4. STEP 4

    Pour syrup mixture over cereal; toss gently until well coated. Bake 40-50 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes, or until coating is set. Cool 5 minutes; stir in chocolate pieces.

  5. STEP 5

    Spread mixture onto waxed paper. Cool 10 minutes. Break apart. Store in container with tight-fitting lid.

I have made this several times to take to parties. It is always a big hit! People are always asking me for the recipe. Instead of adding the candy pieces, I add pecans. I mix the pecans in with the cereal at the beginning of the recipe. The pecans add a special touch to the recipe!
