1/4 cup Land O Lakes® Butter
1/2 cup light corn syrup
3/4 cup sugar
3 to 6 drops red or green food color
Lightly butter inside of 18 (2-inch) open metal cookie cutters. Place onto lightly buttered baking sheet. Set aside.
Combine all ingredients except food color in heavy 1-quart saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, 5-8 minutes or until mixture comes to a boil. Reduce heat to low. Cook 15-20 minutes, without stirring, until candy thermometer reaches 280°F. or until small amount of mixture dropped into ice water forms a hard brittle strand. Stir in food color.
Carefully spoon about 1 tablespoon hot candy mixture into each prepared cookie cutter. Let stand until candy is cooled. Remove candy from cutters.
Holiday Candy Pops: Prepare recipe as directed above. Drop hot mixture by tablespoonfuls over wooden sticks placed on lightly buttered baking sheets. Candy may be pressed into candy pops while still hot, or stuck on with a small amount of corn syrup when cool. Allow to cool before removing from baking sheet. 18 (2-inch) pops.
Holiday Ornaments: Prepare recipe as directed above. Make holes near top of each candy with a skewer or toothpick while candy is warm. Attach ribbon through hole when cool. 18 (2-inch) ornaments.

This has to be the best butter candy recipe I have ever tried. Very hard to mess up, and as long as you follow the directions exactly and resist the urge to stir.....you will love this candy. It's a bit addictive and this is the third batch this week that I've made. Great recipe.
when do u add the food color?
After the candy muxture reaches the final temperature you should add the food color.
