Sweet & Zesty Kansas Barbecued Chicken

Ingredients

Sauce

1/3 cup barbecue sauce

2 tablespoons apricot or peach preserves

Chicken

2 tablespoons Land O Lakes® Butter, melted

1 teaspoon chili powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

4 (9-ounce) split chicken breasts with ribs, skinned

How to make

  1. STEP 1

    Heat gas grill on medium or charcoal grill until coals are ash white.

  2. STEP 2

    Combine barbecue sauce and preserves in small bowl; set aside.

  3. STEP 3

    Combine melted butter, chili powder and salt in small bowl; brush chicken breasts with butter mixture. Place chicken onto grill, bone-side down. Grill 20 minutes or until lightly browned.

  4. STEP 4

    Brush both sides of chicken with sauce. Turn; continue grilling 10-15 minutes or until internal temperature reaches at least 165°F and juices run clear when pierced with fork.

Oven Directions: Heat broiler. Prepare sauce and chicken with butter mixture as directed above. Place chicken on broiler pan, bone-side up. Broil 4 to 5 inches from heat 20-22 minutes or until browned. Brush chicken with 1/4 cup sauce. Turn; brush with remaining sauce. Continue broiling, brushing occasionally with sauce, 5-10 minutes or until internal temperature reaches at least 165°F. and juices run clear when pierced with a fork.
