Old-Fashioned Pear Conserve

2 pounds (8 medium) pears, peeled, cored, quartered

2 1/4 cups sugar

1 (8-ounce) can crushed pineapple in pineapple juice

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1/2 teaspoon freshly grated lemon zest

How to make

  1. STEP 1

    Place half of pears in food processor bowl fitted with metal blade or 5-cup blender container. Process 1-2 minutes or until finely chopped. Place chopped pears in heavy 4-quart saucepan. Process remaining pears; place into saucepan. Stir in all remaining ingredients.

  2. STEP 2

    Cook over medium heat 35-45 minutes or until pears are very soft and mixture thickens. Serve warm or cold on pancakes, waffles, toast, or warm breads. Store refrigerated.
