Cake
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup Land O Lakes® Butter, softened
2 large Land O Lakes® Eggs
1 cup sour cream
2 medium (1 cup) ripe bananas, mashed
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
Frosting
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/3 cup Land O Lakes® Half & Half
1/4 cup Land O Lakes® Butter
1/8 teaspoon salt
2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Topping
1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans, if desired
STEP 1
Heat oven to 350°F. Grease 13x9-inch baking pan; set aside.
STEP 2
Stir together flour, baking powder, baking soda and 1/4 teaspoon salt in bowl; set aside.
STEP 3
Combine sugar and 1/2 cup butter in another bowl. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until creamy. Continue beating, adding 1 egg at a time, until creamy. Add sour cream, bananas and vanilla; continue beating until well mixed. Beat at low speed, gradually adding flour mixture and scraping bowl often, until well mixed. Stir in 1/2 cup walnuts.
STEP 4
Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake 40-50 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely.
STEP 5
Combine brown sugar, half & half, 1/4 cup butter and 1/8 teaspoon salt in 2-quart saucepan. Cook over medium heat 6-8 minutes or until mixture comes to a full boil. Cool 15 minutes. Stir in all remaining frosting ingredients; beat until smooth.
STEP 6
Spread frosting over cooled cake; sprinkle with 1/4 cup walnuts.
