Those of us who work here in the Test Kitchens know a lot about food. And we especially love to teach you about it. What we don’t know? Football. However, any excuse to eat appetizers and hang out with friends is something we can get behind. Plus, there’s always the commercials!
So, where to begin? Pull-Apart Party Loaf
is one of our most popular recipes! Deli American, salty bacon, and a little spice from jalapenos all stuffed into sourdough bread and baked until the cheese is melted. It’s a great for a party and is easily transportable to a friend’s house. You can make it a day ahead and bake it the day of the party.
Buffalo wings – Nothing say says football like buffalo wings. However, we skip the mess and make them in meatball form instead! Buffalo Chicken Meatballs
are easy to serve and even easier to eat! Bake the meatballs ahead of time and store in the fridge. On game day, put the sauce ingredients and pre-baked meatballs in a slow cooker and turn it on low until the meatballs are heated through.
– Here’s another football favorite served in a new way. All the flavor of a cheeseburger, including the pickles, in a delicious hot dip. You can serve this dip with potato chips or French fries. To make ahead, cook the sausage and combine all the ingredients in a slow cooker. Turn it on low and let them cook until the cheese is melted and the dip is hot. You’ll need to stir it a few times during heat-up.
Soft pretzels can be intimidating to make at home – but we’ve simplified the process by using store-bought frozen dinner rolls. Simply thaw, stuff with Deli American and then quickly boil before baking to create that signature chewy, crusty pretzel texture. The recipe says 12 servings, but you’ll definitely want more than one of our Cheese Stuffed Pretzel Buns.
This is another great make-ahead recipe. Make the recipe as directed, let the buns cool completely, and then freeze. To reheat, bake for just a few minutes at 425°F.
Finally, you can’t forget about sweets. In honor of this year’s teams, we’re making Boston Cream Pie Cupcakes, a simplified version of the classic cake.
And don't forget Brown Sugar Praline Bars
, which makes 48 bars – perfect for a crowd!
